If the PCs are running Vista Ultimate/Business or XP Pro/MCE you could use
Remote Desktop to access/control them from the laptop. I do that, ie. run
headless, to control a Windows Home Server and in the past a XP Pro machine.
Note you need to configure the BIOS on each of the headless PCs to ignore
errors on bootup.

If you have a Vista Remote Desktop host and an XP client configure them like
this...

If the PCs are running Vista Home editions or XP Home then UltraVNC will
work instead of Remote Desktop.
