Only Vista Ultimate has remote desktop functionality and it's not enabled by default. The short answer to your question is no, you can't remote desktop to your home machine because Vista Basic doesn't include remote desktop functionality.
The good news is that there are a number of popular alternatives. Spend a few minutes googling VNC and/or TightVNC. Both packages work very well and they're both free. I recommend TightVNC. |
