There's a way to actually turn off the beep and darkened
screen that comes with secure desktop. it's a registry hack.
You still have to grant it perms to run.
I wouldn't turn off UAC. In fact, I wouldn't even hack
the registry, since the secure desktop actually prevents
apps from bypassing the approval mode.
After you use the computer for a while, the
number of times it does anything like that
seems to lessen.
Malware writers have been using the computer for 20
years or more too. For me, it simply isn't worth the risk.
