Depends on the power supply, and the type. Best bet is to
check with the manufacturer. There are different types of
power supplies. But with the circuit open, it shouldn't make
too much of a difference. Just don't quote me on that without
asking them.

A notebook power supply normally feeds voltage into the
battery and runs the notebook. When it senses that the AC
is off, it automatically switches to battery. You should maybe
have a surge suppressor in line to power it off of.

But again, I may be wrong. So, again, best bet is the
manufacturer.
