They said they've had no problems with the driver. They also said that since
the device had been showing as working properly in the device manager that it
must be a problem with the OS.

Since my last response I went directly to the ASUS website and downloaded
their drivers for the network card and those won't even install. I get some
message that "that name is being used by a service." I had deleted the device
and any software related. At this point I'm ready to give up although I would
like to get familiar with the OS. My XP still works fine.
