Colin,
I decided to give it one last try.
This am I downloaded another set of chipset and nic adapter drivers from
asus and for whatever reason it worked. I think the chipset drivers did the
trick. I hadn't tried the Asus chipset drivers.
I was then able to get the divers updated via Windows update. I feel like
I'm back in Win 95.
