Hi.
I was installing a fresh copy of kaspersky downloaded from
kaspersky.com and it was for some reason corrupted. I am using Vista.
During install proces, I got a blue screen and my PC rebooted. Upon
reboot, check disk started and tons and tons of errors were detected,
line after line non-stop, with words like "orphaned", "deleted",
"corrupt" etc. Screen was moving too fast to read anything.
Anyway. I couldn't get back into vista. I got the the blue screen and a
crash every time I tried. I even tried "last good config" but it didn't
let me in.
Finally, I managed to get into safe mode and tried to do a system
restore. It didn't let me. I got the error message:
-System Restore Unexpected Error
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
(0x8007007B)
System Restore will now close.-
That's when I began searching for more info on this error message until
I came across this thread.
I am just about to follow the steps that Bert Kinney has given since
they worked for someone above.
But before I do that, I noticed that he had requested for a screenshot
of the window with "missing" on it.
I've just taken the screenshot and I'm mailing it to you Bert. Hope
it's not too late for whatever use you will make out of it.
Thanks.
