I am in exactly the same quandary. I am having terrible problems with USB
drivers on my Vista machine and I have lost days of productivity trying to
fix it. I too am considering the drastic action of formatting and
reinstalling everything on XP.
I also wish to buy a laptop and am in a similar quandary. I really don't
want to buy a Vista laptop at the moment. Dell say they will sell me one of
their laptops with XP on it, but if it was designed to run Vista I fear that
I will have problems trying to run XP on it.
It would certainly be reassuring if there was a date for Vista SP1.
