Hi,
I purchased PCI Express Parallel Card from StarTech.com after having
made sure that it can work with Vista. During the installation I got the
following error message: "Windows found driver software for your device
but encountered an error while attempting to install it: MosChip PCI
Multi-IO Controller. The system cannot find the file specified.”
I then downloaded the driver directly from StarTech website but I still
got the same error message.
I contacted StarTech technician who recommend uninstalling that device
from the Device Manager and then shutting the computer off. I was then
asked to remove the card and start up the computer without it, and log
into Windows. Once Windows had fully loaded, I was asked to shut down
the computer again, and reinstall the card. I was then asked to get
back to Windows and install it manually via the Device Manager.
Unfortunately, none of this worked and I still got the same message.
The final word by their technician was that unless I try the card in a
different computer, we won't know for sure which is the problem. It may
be a hardware conflict, or my Windows may be damaged.
Has anyone else come across a similar problem? Any ideas would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks.
