You don't have the same problem as the OP, who is not writing about
duplicated items in the "Sent" folder, but duplicated items in the Inbox.
And Windows Live Mail works properly in several IMAP accounts that I have.
Perhaps something about the way the IMAP folders are configured on that tab
in account properties.
