Re: Configuration of mail account

Winston,

The account is a windowslive.com account. My main email account, prior
to installing and using WLM for the first time (because I decided to start
using a newsreader, which I had never used before), was a premium Yahoo
account with my ISP, AT&T. I migrated the Yahoo account, which as you know
is a POP3, into WLM. I had previously configured the servers in the event I
needed to use the feature in the future.
WLM then automatically migrated my two hotmail.com accounts into
itself. I then created a live.com account, which went flawlessly. I then had
only one problem remaining, the windowslive.com account. It simply could not
and would not receive and send mail. I could not send emails to the account
and I could not send emails from the account.
The new account wizard always tried to configure the account as a POP3
account and I allowed it to do so. When the wizard requested the servers I
entered the information for my ATT Yahoo servers, thinking the wizard knew
best. I had completely forgotten that the windowslive.com account is an HTTP
account such as Hotmail. I then configured the account manually with no
problems whatsoever.
I have omitted some important information concerning this issue because
I don't want it broadcast throughout the discussion groups. Please email me
and I will let you know why I had allowed the new account wizard to try to
configure the windowslive.com account as a POP3 account. You will then
understand everything.
Have a nice day.
