I found that the sequence of setting up the printer was important. Uninstall
the printer driver. Shut down computer. Reboot and allow Windows to find
and install the HP4L driver. The 4L printer driver is available via Windows
Vista....I don't know whether this is version specific or not..I'm running
Vista Home Premium. But that shouldn't matter...you should be able to get
the printer...You can also try to have Windows look for it online.
I've also read that some people have trouble simply because of the
usb-parallel cable they were using. I bought a Cables to Go one for about
$20 from Compusa and never had a problem from minute one. I followed the
sequence for installation recommended, Windows found and installed driver,
and voila.
