What a Mistake!
I purchased two new computers in the past six months. A CyberPower
desktop with Vista Home Premium and an Acer laptop with Vista Home
Basic. Thank goodness I kept my old Dell with XP Pro. I find I spend
almost all of my computer time on the Dell. Vista does not seem to do
anything any better then XP and does many things worse. To wit:
1. I can not record a CD from the CD player with out hardwiring the
audio card headphone out to the audio in.
2. I can not use my company Web mail (MS Exchange server) as it does
not work with Vista.
3. Many of my old programs were not compatible with Vista and even
though I purchased new versions they are still buggy (i.e., Windows
COM errors).
4. Windows Update does not recognize me as the Administrator so I can
not install Windows update.
5. Many web sites (Outback Steakhouse for one) do not display
graphics. I just get the little box with the red x in the box.
I am very close to donating both of these computers to charity and
buying a PowerMac. I don't have the technical skills to uninstall
Vista and install XP. I understand there are driver issues in trying
to downgrade to XP.
What a mess!!!
