Send/Receive from Windows Live Mail Desktop version

Hi everyone

I'm new to the forum and hope someone is able to help me. I've read through 8 pages of threads to see if I can find a similar problem, but no luck as yet.

I'm using Vista Home Premium 64 bit (first vista machine), which came preinstalled on a HP Laptop. I'm considering switching from googlemail/igoogle to Windows Live, partly because I've read it integrates well with vista. Any comments regarding this would be useful, although the main reason for my posting is as follows :

I've signed up to windows live, and downloaded windows live mail, along with a few other windows live programs to see what theyre like.

My understanding is that the windows live download is self configuring, in that it sets the pop3 and smtp settings for you. This, it appears has been done. The problem is, when I click send/receive I'm getting the following error :

"Unable to send or receive messages for the pop3.live.com account. The connection to the server has failed"

Server : pop3.live.com
Windows Live Mail Error ID : 0x800CCC0E
Protocol : pop3
Port : 110
Secure (SSL) : No
Socket Error : 10060

I've checked, and my username and password are correct, the pop settings were automatically done, so i'm a little confused.

Any help would be appreciated. Apologies if this goes on a bit, but /i kind of thought the more info /i gave, the better ?

Many thanks

Bryan
