Honestly you're comparing Windows Mail to Outlook, of course its not going
to be anywhere near as good. It is just an update and rebranding of Outlook
Express with a few new features like a junk mail filter.

You're right that Windows Mail, when dealing with huge numbers of messages
in the tens of thousands is quite a bit slower than Outlook Express, but
that's because now it stores messages as individual files, rather than in a
DB.

I use Outlook 2007.
