One procedure:
Install Vista from the DVD. Do not enter a license code. That'll give you a
30 day demo version. (The installation disk is the same for a variety of
versions. The result depends on the license code.)
Boot the demo version. Run the Vista installation from that. I believe that
the quickest path is to do a complete install, rather than an upgrade.
Return address scrambled. Replace nkbob with bobkn.
