Well, I've now done clean installs on this machine several times while figureing out the best way for me to share a Vista & XP system.
I can tell you with surity, that if you want all the hardware to work you have to install all the HP software that drives it.
Yes, a stripped down install can be done w/o all the HP software, but it'll leave the machine crippled and unable to use half it's hardware.
And what is 1789?
You may be right that this install is all crapped up and unuseable, but I really don't feel like spending a day installing all this crap only to dump this drive again in 2-3 days when the new drive comes.
I decided to abandon the Hitachi, I've just lost all confidence in them and ordered a Seagate. |
