Those system tray icons are specific to some program that your OEM has installed on your computer's Vista. These are not a part of Vista. You will need to check to see what program this is part of in the computer's documents that was included with your computer to turn it off.
To simply hide just these icons, you can select
Hide in the tutorial below as Bare Foot Kid has suggested.
