Re: OneCare is only an interface

Hello All... I downloaded the trial version of Onecare from MS, and it seems
to me it is nothing more then a one stop interface for features already
built into Vista (Backup. Defender, MS Updater) with only a few minor
additions (two way firewall)... And MS wants $59.99 a year to subscribe to
this..

Seems to be bit of a cash cow for MS on features that are already built into
Vista..
Cory,

There are some important features of Live OneCare that are not part of Vista.

1. Virus scanner
2. Protects up to 3 computers
3. Local networking of the 3 computers with Live OneCare
4. And indeed, it does pull many other features into one easy to use interface.

When you compare the 49.99 annual subscription to, lets say, McAfee, which is also 49.99, to protect the same 3 computers with McAfee you would have to shell out another $100.00 since their license (since the last time I checked) was per PC.

And McAfee doesn't have the maintenance resources of Live OneCare, such as disk clean up, backup, updater and defrag in one button operation.

Overall, for me anyway, Windows Live OneCare is a bargin and works well.
