I have run a combination AVG free edition, Windows Defender and Windows Firewall, combined with the hardware firewall on my router, for about 5 years now. I have NEVER even had a virus warning, let alone been infected by one!
You don't need any security suite or similar products. Everything you need, bar anti-virus, comes with Vista and possibly your router if you use one. If you really want to, you can install Spybot or something similar, which is also free.
If you really want to pay for an anti-virus program, you can always buy the professional version of AVG. Either way, you really shouldn't buy a security suite. |
