Please refer to the following blog, which explains that blank sent messages are due to an issue with the Hotmail server:

Mail being sent out as blank
Hello Everyone,
I just wanted to let everyone know we're aware of the problems some
users are having sending mails. Sometimes when you reply or forward a
mail (or if you just send a new one) the Rich Text Editor [sic] bar won't
appear and when you send the mail it will go out as blank except for
the subject.
The Product Group is working hard on the issue, and we expect to have
the issue fixed on the server side by early next week. Until then we
have a workaround, as well as some steps to prevent this from
happening:
As a workaround, open a new message and then click on "Show as plain
text" link at the top of the message. After this you should be able to
reply to messages as long as you are logged in.
Try try and fix the problem, follow the steps in this article:

Thanks for using Live Hotmail,
Brandon
