| A most unusual problem. However, in order to be able to assist you, I need a bit more information. What is the make and model of your motherboard? Although Realtek are commonly used as audio interfaces on motherboards, they are by no means the only manufacturer. High definition and AC'97 are the two common types of audio for motherboards and whilst in some cases drivers from a different manufacturer will work they will not be able to fully access the device like the manufacturer's driver.

I have this MB:
GIGABYTE - Support - Motherboard - Driver - GA-965P-DS4 (rev. 1.0)
I is very strange, because some web sites have notice about Intel audio and some about Realtek audio. There are both:
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4 Rev 2.0 (Intel P965) :: Articles :: www.hardwarezone.comŽ
Now i don't know which sound chipset is active, i think Realtek.
