can yu believe that dell support told me to wait 2 weeks until microsoft
fixes the problem and then try to load the upgrade again. my mouse is a
dell 2 button usb connection (non-wireless). i have tried all 4 usb ports
and it still didn't fix the problem.

Hello, Rowdy. I'm sorry that I do not have answer for Norton's issue. I hear that Norton is a pain in the you -know -where. Norton camp will scream at me, but you might consider UN-install Norton ( I say, un-install, not disable),and try something like AVG or AVAST from the web sites. I hear they are free. I have McAfee.
PS. Remember, You said it's the update. You might be barking at the wrong tree. May be someone with more superior knowledge will give you a better solution.
Additional info : Should you really decide to rid of Norton, I hear Norton is a stubborn sob. There would/could be remnants left behind causing havoc. You need a software to do a thorough uninstalling. I don't know what that is. Ask this forum, whole bunch of them will have the answer for you. You've got everything I know. Keep me posted if you don't mind.
