Poor Image Quality in Photo Gallery

I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate X32. Three weeks ago I stared tagging my photos using Vista Windows Photo Gallery (WPG). A few days ago I installed Windows Live Photo Gallery (WLPG) to get the added photo stitching software it has. All my tagging work in WPG carried over to WLPG.

Aside from a few issues related to folder/file/tag naming issues, I now have a photo album containing over 11,000 images. GOOD STUFF!

Now the Bad News!

In looking closely at my pictures (Actual size view) I notice serious loss of detail and blurring that I don't see on the same monitor when I open the same files in Photoshop (Actual Pixels view).

Why is this happening? Is there some display setting in WPG and WLPG that needs to be changed?
