Hello Joe,
Windows Live Messenger does support multiple accounts. Simply sign out of
the first account (rightclicking the Messenger icon in the systray, and
clicking "Sign out"), then enter your wife's Windows Live ID and the
corresponding password. Choose whether you want to store the credentials,
then sign in.
For using 2 different email accounts in Windows Live Mail, you will have to
set up a second user account within your operating system as Windows Live
Mail does not support identities anymore, like Outlook Express did. Of
course, using the Hotmail website mail program is possible without using 2
Windows User Accounts. Simply enter the corresponding Windows Live ID and
password when prompted for at the login.live.com sign-in page.
