Hey,

Find Device Manager by double-clicking on the System icon in Control Panel, choosing the Hardware tab, and clicking Device Manager then select Network Adapters and your LAN device.

If your LAN adapter has any offload settings similar to the ones below make sure they are all Disabled, sometimes also checking for a modem firmware update can help more than anything Vista could do.
