Regarding the second error message, that one is often caused by a
wrong setting for incoming authentication.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers,
uncheck "Log on using Secure Password Authentication."

Also, both errors can be caused by your antivirus program. Which
antivirus are you using?
