I've been having a problem for a few days now that everytime I boot the
new hardware found wizard comes up for all of my USB devices. They've
been working for the past few weeks with no problems but for some reason
it's screwed up now.
The worst part is that the wizard pops up multiple times for each
device (roughly 5). Right now I've just got my Mouse and Keyboard (both
MS brand) connected so I get this wizard about 10 times.
If I go through the steps to install the hardware it fails, but the
devices still work. If I choose to never get the message again the
devices stops working until I reboot and get the messages again.
Not sure if it's just a general USB issue or what. I also cannot
install my IPod nano either.
My system:
Vista Enterprise x64
Intel Quadcore 2.4ghz
8GB RAM
Mouse: MS Comfort Optical 3000
Keyboard: MS Natural Ergonomic 4000
I've seen the hotfix available for the "failed to install" issue with
the hardware wizard but when tryng to install that hotfix i get the
message that the update does not apply to my system. I did quadruple
check to make sure I ran the one for x64 and on that not with the ipod i
did make sure I ran "itunes64setup" for itunes 7.6 (the latest version),
and i did install the latest versions of IntelliPoint and IntelliType
for vista 64 (actually uninstalled and reinstalled these 5 times).
