You are probably running into the case where the sender did not include
the images with the message, but rather has links to a web site that has
the actual image.

In that case, images are not downloaded until you open the message, and
even then it depending on your settings in Tools, Safety Options,
Security of allowing the download of external images.

And even then, the external images are downloaded to the IE Temporary
Internet Files, where you can't count on them staying forever.

If the sender actually included the images with the message, you
shouldn't have nay problems viewing the images offline.
