I shut my workstation down completely and kill the power at a wall switch. This protects my workstation during storms. Saves on the power bill. Keeps the room cooler and quiet for sleeping. If your parents or you pay the electric bill, turn off the computer when not in use. Only my web server is left on. It was designed to use around 100-120W. My main workstation has a 1000W power supply, 8800GTS video and SAS RAID drives.
I read the UK is asking its citizens to turn off appliances not in use including computers to save on energy and cut down on green house gases from power plants. |
