In order to control the command line of the default command for a filetype
in Vista, you will need to understand editing the registry, and the syntax
of the app you are using to play the sound. It sounds to me like you expect
the default .wav player in Vista to have a /close switch, and it does not.
You would need to kill the Media Player task.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WMP11.AssocFile.WAV\shell\play\command
There are other players, but not included in Vista. SndRec32.exe from XP
will play in Vista, and has the /play /close syntax you want.
