I told Symantec what my problem was and after the usual advice of isolating each part of their programme, to no effect, they have advised me to contact Microsoft support.

I have passed on to them the fact that many people are unhappy that their product caused problems in Vista and that they were unlikely to receive repeat business in the future.

I finished with asking them to make sure that their customer services were informed but did not receive any comment from them.

Their response times althought quite good resulted in e-mails being returned very early in the morning, no chance of an on-line chat then! Their call centre is overseas and I believe they do not have the expertise to diagnose or respond appropriately to a problem and they work from a script and not a technical manual.
