So can anyone tell me wats the problem with the vista drivers..
Realtek have been issuing new drivers every week or so. Each time to correct a fault in the previous (they have had MANY!). The installation is also a little 'suspect' The first time you install, it actually only uninstalls the in place driver, but doesn't tell you this and when you reboot (as you have to) a generic sound driver gets installed by Vista. You MUST go back to the unzipped Realtek files and do the set-up again. Now when it installs and you reboot, you will see the Realtek speaker manager icon in the tray. This is an excellent manager and you can test your speaker configurations and various other tweaks. It is well worth investing in Driver Detective (
Driver Detective | Driver Update Software for Windows XP and Vista). This keeps a running check on all drivers for the MoBo and sound card and allows you download the latest with one click from their software (and their web site)
