But my XP laptop was never used with this server before. I just tried to connect from it yesterday and it worked. The administrator rather could not add XP PC to the access list, because he did not even know about its existence.

OK - a question: what do you mean by adding a PC to the access list? Do you mean the IP? If yes - I do not have a fixed IP here and I think the server is public to any IP: I asked some colleagues who had nothing to do with this server to connect from their XP PCs and they succeeded.

Another colleague, who has the same Vista PC as me, also cannot connect.
But one more colleague has vista and he succeeded... but I suppose he has a Home edition, and not Enterprise as me - but I need to verify it...

Well... that's why I think it is on my laptop's configuration side (but I will verify this issue of access list with my administrator).
So... I still need help... maybe it is just a simple setting which I am not aware of...
