The names are synonymous apparently. One is for the standalone card, and the other for the planar-integrated chipset. I am guessing you have a Compaq, is that right? You might want to find out the motherboard model # and other information and post that (run system information from the administative tasks menu). Once you get the model #, you can try to get the technical specs for the video chipset, to see if indeed 1680 x 1050 is a supported resolution for your laptop. Don't lose the receipt for the LG monitor, though. You might have to shop for one that runs 1600 X 1024.
