VPC problems over AMD. Internet problems: bad request, error 400 Hi there,
I had a VM working in a Dell (intel cpu), with virtual pc 2004. Host:
Windows XP SP2.
All worked fine and the VM could access the internet over NAT.
Then I got a secondary laptop, an Acer with a AMD Turion 64X2 cpu. Host:
Windows XP Pro SP2 (and later SP3).
Basically I'm using the same broadband modem to access the Internet and I'm
using the safe defense mechanism: XP Firewall.
Problem is: when I try to use the VM over the second laptop (the Acer),
whether I use VPC 2004 or VPC 2007 SP1 (i tried both already, same results),
I encounter serious problems to access the Internet via NAT.
When i use the VM on the second laptop, sometimes it loads the web pages
perfectly, but other times it doesn't load some images or some flash objects.
Sometimes it doesn't load a page at all, and gives me an error 400.
However, if I click on refresh, it usually refreshes and loads the page
(even with some minor problems, like not loading some image inside the page).
My question is: are there any problems with VPC and AMD Turion?
I have the same Host OS, the same firewall, the same modem, the same virtual
machine. Only the Host processor is different.
And I can access the Internet, but I get random errors all the time, when I
try to load some web pages over IE.
i tried to search on google, on this newsgroup and cannot find anyone else
complaining about a similar problem. I already tried to run VPC 2004, VPC
2007, and I always have the same problem on the second laptop. The VM still
works great on the first laptop (same Host OS, same modem, same way to
network which is NAT). The only difference I can think about is the Host CPU.
Any hints on this? |
