I would not recommend that option. It will cause a improper shutdown screen at the next bootup and can cause hard drive corruption with data loss of anything you had running at the time of killing the power.
The best option is to use the default shutdown option of letting it logoff first, then shutdown power.

If you are just wanting it to shutdown quicker, then this is a safe method to use instead.
