Re: How to back up the custom emoticons that I currently have to a new

Greetings Ben,

Sure no problem. Just make sure you're using at least Windows Live Messenger 8.1 or 8.5
before doing this (otherwise it won't work).

Just head over to:
\Documents and Settings\username\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger\LiveID\ObjectStore\CustomEmoticons
(Where username is your Windows username and LiveID is your Windows Live ID/Passport e-mail
address.)

and copy the folder somewhere (or to the new PC already). Note that you can just copy over
the entire ObjectStore folder and transfer over your display pictures, winks, etc. as well
too.

Just to note, some of these folders will be hidden by default, to see them simply press the
Alt key on the keyboard in any Windows Explorer window to bring up the toolbar, click Tools,
then Folder Options, then the View tab, and then choose 'Show hidden files and folders'.
After click OK, they should appear with the other folders.
