Vista/Internet explorer connection help

Hi all,

Just wondered if anybody can give me some advice on a problem I'm having with my laptop at the moment.

A few days ago, the internet connection in our area went down, and after some repair work from the ISP, finally came back up again. However, since then, I have been unable to connect to the internet through internet explorer, access my emails or connect to iTunes. I can however still connect to Safari? All my connections show as no problems, and I have no error messages showing. Not really a computer genius, so any help would be greatly appreciated
