Hi Eileen.

The problem is that you are still using Windows Live Mail desktop 8.0.1226 Beta, which became redundant a long time ago.

Upgrading to Windows Live Mail 12.0.1606 will solve your problem, as this was a bug in previous versions.
Note that here is no more 'Desktop' in the name of this program, and it is no longer in beta.

Now you are wondering why you did not know about the update, and why was it not automatically updated through Microsoft Update.

The earlier Beta versions were not updated automatically, however the recent versions have been, so once you install the current version, you should be advised of any new versions available through Microsoft Update.
