could I get you to temporarily switch back to the other proxy server and
turn on logging and then reproduce the failure? I'd like to see what's
causing that to happen.

You can do that by going to tools->options->advanced->maintenance… then
checking on general and Http.
the logs will be at your store root:
i.e. c:\users\<name>\appdata\local\microsoft\windows live
mail\windowslivemail.log
Then send them to: juddp@xxxxxx
