Teredo is a tunneling protocol (Tunneling protocol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) designed to grant IPv6 (IPv6 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) connectivity to nodes that are located behind IPv6-unaware NAT (Network address translation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) devices. It defines a way of encapsulating (Encapsulation (networking - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)) IPv6 packets within IPv4 (IPv4 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) UDP (User Datagram Protocol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) datagrams that can be routed through NAT devices and on the IPv4 internet (IPv4 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).
