Windows Live Mail is the replacement for Windows Mail, or so it would seem.
The program is capable of spell checking according to UK spelling, but it
takes some fiddling to make it work. The NG for Windows Live Mail is
microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop. WLM is currently in development
and not nearly as stable as WM. A number of commercial spell checkers are
available. Perhaps there is one which works with WM. Outlook is pretty
darn cheap on this side of the Atlantic.
The same question is addressed in the MSN NG,
microsoft.public.msn.discussion. The parameters are a little different, but
you can gain a pretty good understanding of the problem there. I agree that
MSFT's approach to UK spelling has been a little, let's say jingoistic, but
it was a question of us or them. All your base are ours.
