First Step - Disable all non-Microsoft services and startup items in MSCONFIG (Service Tab - Click Hide All Microsoft Services - Click Disable All, Startup Tab - Click Disable All. Second Step - Remove hardware thats installed. Starting with the least impact to usablity, say NICs, Sound Cards, Etc. If need be disable onboard hardware via the BIOS (LAN, Sound, Firewire, Etc)
