The problem is, at the 3rd step in the SFC tutorial where a link to an MS article : Some Windows Vista functions may not work, or Windows Vista may stop responding
tells me how to repair the files, it says
"Type the following command to replace the file with a known good copy of the file"
Now, I don't know where can I find "a known good copy of the file".
Furthermore, I don't know the current status of the files which are shown to be damaged above; I mean are the actual copies damaged or are the backups also damaged?
What stumps me above all else is why Vista, unlike XP, can't replace corrupt system files from the installation DVD? Why do Vista users have to go through such hellish procedures?
