Hello Colin, and welcome to Vista Forums.
It may be referring to the router's wireless encryption option. Most are not turned on my default. It should be under your Wireless Settings Setup in the router settings. Use WPA2 if available. If not, then WPA or WEP.
Go through your router's manual for detailed instructions on how to do this for that brand and model.
