I have to bump up old thread, since it solved my problem as well.. The thing was a bit different; Vista Update told me it has new drivers for my Samsung SCX-4300 printer/scanner and as per usual, I installed them. My homeserver running Windows XP 32bit is hosting the scanner. Well, after booting the Vista 64bit (my main computer), all the printing seized. Nothing worked since, removed and added the printer few times, tried to add Vista 64bit drivers on XP's shared printer drivers (haha, no luck there).

After reading this thread through, I used the "add as local printer" -trick. I also boosted this by selecting the old drivers and told Vista to overwrite the ones currently in use. I take it that new drivers can't work with XPs old drivers. Don't know, but this helped.
