Probably. Swap the sticks of memory to see if that one stick will work. If
it does, you probably have a BIOS change to make. If you are installing
Vista pre SP1 which needs a hotfix for 4 gig of RAM. If so, using one
stick, install SP1, then reinstall your other one.
