Hey Steve,

Try this

Go to Control Panel, Programs, Uninstall a program and uninstall the Realtek entry this will uninstall the drivers and the software and ask for a restart. Restart the computer Vista will automatically reload the drivers without the software. The sound should now work.

Should the drivers not be automatically loaded go to Control Panel, Classic View, Add Hardware accept the UAC promt, press next, and press next the Hardware should now be found and Drivers installed
