Bugs in Live Synch In contrast to some other posts on this website, I have to say that so far my
experience with the transition has beek ok.
Both computers running Win XP are currently running Live Sync successfully,
and my 5 folders are synchronized.
However, I have a found a few bugs, which I detail below:
1) The website does not accurately report which computers are currently
synchronized.
2) On Computer "W", 4/5 "Personal Libraries" did not get automatically
transferred from Foldershare to Live Sync - the program just reported that
there was an error and to go to the website to set them up again
3) After completing (2) successfully last night, I woke up this morning to
discover that 3/5 libraries were grayed out for computer "W", meaning that
"W" was no longer getting the synchs. I re-re-set up those libraries in "W"
and since then (3 hours) I have had no problem.
4) This is not a bug but a complaint about the user interface. Having to
navigate the hierarchy of the directories every time I have had to set up a
library is really cumbersome (especially because we have to wait for the
browser to read the directory contents and refresh). I have had to do this
several times over the last week and it's annoying. Why not just let the user
copy and paste a path?!
I have to say that I was surprised by the abruptness of the switch. I know
we have been warned of the impending transfer but at least give people a
heads up on when they should expect it! Bizarre to say the least.
So, in summary, my experience so far: bumpy but not the screeching crash I
had feared. (knock on wood)
